Quick Ship: Wheasel

Quick Ship: WheaselThis was easy to put together and it works great in the classroom. It is a great height for both myself and students to use. The wheels lock and unlock easily. It moves with ease. The hooks for chart paper have fallen off a few times because of the weight of the paper, but a little extra glue (super glue) did the trick. It is harder to use with pocket charts because of the limited places to hang from.

Pacon Chart Tablet, 24 x 16 Inches, 1 Inch Ruling, 25 Sheets (0074620)

Pacon Chart Tablet, 24 x 16 Inches, 1 Inch Ruling, 25 Sheets
  • Pad Sold as 1 Each

This is the exact tablet that I wanted and is perfect for what I had planned. However the packing was terrible. The tablets were FOLDED in half and stuffed into a flat box. Now I have 2 tablets with PERMANENT creases down the middle. This was the most unintelligent way to ship these products. No one wants a tablet that is folded and creased. They should be put into a FLAT box big enough for the tablets to lay flat or perhaps ROLLED but not folded.

Liquitex Assorted 22-milliliter Basics Acrylic Paint, 24-Pack

Liquitex Assorted 22-milliliter Basics Acrylic Paint, 24-PackThis is a great little kit for experimenting with acrylics. However the size of the tube is entirely too small, so I would avoid buying these if you're an art student but rather invest in larger tubes of the colours you absolutely NEED instead.

-They're okay when extended with medium. You have to use a lot of them in the medium to not lose the colour. I recommend using a professional medium with them if you can afford it. I definitely noticed a difference when I used Liquitex gel mediums vs Golden or Winsor & Newton.

-The pigment load is okay, but will not look "vibrant". Some of the colours are noticeably brighter than others when mixed with medium (Pthalo blue looks great for example, whereas primary yellow tends to look flat)

-They don't hold up to the test of time well, the lightfastness is not great but definitely better than other student grade paints.

I recommend these for:

-New painter

-Experimentation with new techniques

-Children/teenagers who wish to start painting in acrylic (do not gift medium with this kit, wait to see how they feel about the paints first)

I do not recommend these for:

-Art students and hobbyist painters (you need way more paint than this so just buy the bigger tubes and save money)

-Paintings you intend to give as a gift (or keep)

-Paintings you intend to sell

-Anyone past "student" level as these are student grade paints.

22 milliliter is a bit small, but they are good paints, i already painted two pictures with them, easy to use, nice colors

This is a good acrylic set but not all the paints are full. for example, the white, had like a 1/4 air within the container. I guess for the price and variety it's not a bad trade off but it would have been epic if I got the entire white and switched off the air for the burnt sienna or something, maybe the "toxic waste green"

I received the paint on time and it was what I had expected; it is the right sizes and colors in other words, very good.

Art Advantage Mini Easel Oil Paint Set

Art Advantage Mini Easel Oil Paint SetWas broken in like three different places. Then on top of that everything wasn't in the box. Also the box was in bad shape when it came. But the return was fast and easy even if they couldn't send me a new one.

Granddaughter is just starting out, learning to paint in oil. This is a great starter set without spending a fortune.

It was a little smaller than I expected, but it's perfect for my 5 year old. She's told me she wants to be an artist when she grows up so this was a perfect gift to start her out.

I use it to display the pictures that my daughter makes on it. It's small but cute and attractive.

Sorry, but it's a good product and for some reason I need to type in at least twenty words, so that means yer wasting your time reading this because my full review is way up top.

I purchase about 500$ worth of oil painting supplies and I got 2 of these with that package. The clips that hold it down are decent but they take about an inch away from the painting. On such a small canvas (8x11) you lose a lot of canvas space.

The only thing this is good for is kids really. But not with OIL paint though! Unless you have gallons of paint remover or furniture that you want to throw away.

The legs that this is on need to be screwed or bolted down to a surface if you want to actually put pressure behind your brush. If not, it falls backwards or you have to hold the base down the whole time you paint.

Buy the FULL SIZED aluminum stand and you can still clip down small canvases or large 3 foot ones too. Also the aluminum ones collapse just as small as this one.

I paint and I've sold works for a couple hundred dollars here and there. This is just a crappy item that I would NOT recommend to ANYONE!

No pros. Even the paint has a grainy texture to it. The wooden palette stains and holds old paint. Buy the 2$ plastic palette and you can use white without getting a tinge from the colors soaked in the wood. GOOD LUCK!

Strathmore 400 Series Drawing Paper Pad

Strathmore 400 Series Drawing Paper Pad - 8 x 10 InchesI've been using Strathmore papers for more than 25 years. The 400 Series 150 gram paper is cold pressed and is sizing-free. This is perfect for pencil and technical inks. Strathmore indicates you can apply light washes, but they mean "really really really LIGHT" washes. The paper will deform with watercolor or too much ink.

Being sizing-free means it has great tooth for picking up graphite and technical or india ink.

The glue binding the pages to the pad used to be a rubber cement type adhesive that allowed you to pull the sheets off cleanly -meaning you don't have to trim them for a crisp edge. I believe this is still true of the 150 g Drawing Paper, but beware that Strathmore Marker Pad paper doesn't have such a great binding: you must x-acto the sheets off the binding or it will tear.

The reason for the 4 star review instead of a 5 star review is due to the fact that these pads are rarely vacuum-sealed in shrink wrap. I almost always find them exposed to ambient air. This can mean the paper has absorbed moisture from the air which can affect ink (not graphite) performance on the paper. (Remember these sheets don't have sizing to seal them.) Also, marker -like Copic or Tombow tends to warp the paper (as well as bleed through; but that isn't the performance window of Series 400.)

For the price, they're great sheet pads that handle graphite, erasing (pink pearl seems to work best), and technical ink.

To the reviewer who was disappointed at getting only a single "pad" all I can say is shop around, read the description, and you'll discover this is a good price compared to retail for Series 400.

If you need something more sturdy for heavier washes or dense ink try their Bristol Board which is available hot-pressed or cold.

The paper is not bright white, instead it is a very light cream color which is much easier on the eyes. It has a nice texture and the paper's thickness is perfect for drawing. I have tried many brands, and this one is my favorite.

You can find more sheets of paper for less money in similar paper products, but not of this quality. Those inexpensive pads are adequate for younger children; we all know how they often enjoy scribbling one line per page and then tossing the unfinished "work" ... or pasting it to the fridge AS IS! Daddy's little budding artists ... lol ...

But this Strathmore product is definitely for the more advanced artist who wants a sketch that s/he can frame, if desired. This paper is of a higher quality in an aesthetic cream color, appropriate for highlighting details of the artist's best illustrations.

Since each pad contains twenty-four 80lb. acid-free sheets per spiral-bound pad, that's approximately six sheets per dollar. What a bargain!
