Full Box French Style Easel

My fiance got me this for Christmas and while it was a VERY sweet thought this easel is awful! The three unsupported legs make it unstable and since EVERYTHING is adjustable it is difficult to make it level. Expect to get out a level EVERYTIME you want to set it up. It is usable but not very convenient. As a former art student and art teacher I have seen and used many types of easels. You are better off with something with more support for the legs and less things to adjust which may not be as portable but better to use.

Like the review below stated, this easel is a little wobbly. It doesn't close easily because of some missalignments. The wood is also of subpar quality. I've looked at alot of french easels and the more expensive ones just have better wood and I assume the parts are aligned better. I'm going to mainly use this on the road and don't really need super stability so I'm pretty happy with it. If you want something that will last a long time however, I would suggest spending a bit more for a better model.

I bought this easel after reading so many rave reviews. This easel is even recommended by some well know plein air artists. I have to say... I just don't get it. The quality is poor and the easel is unstable. How anyone paints on it is a complete mystery to me.

The easel is pretty good. It is everything I wanted and more. I can keep all of my paints inside the drawer even when I fold it and put it away. The legs are all adjustable and easy to setup. The only thing I don't like about the easel is the bolts. The bolts are used to secure the legs in place. Some of them came crooked on the threaded part and I can't get them to go on correctly. They still work the way they are, but I just wish they sat flush. My thumbs hurt after tightening the bolts a few times also. It could just be because I as a wuss though. Also, there are no instructions so I had to figure out how to open it up into an easel myself. Not that difficult, but would've been better with instructions. Overall, I am very happy with the easel and it is perfect for what I use it for.

My daughter got so good at it over 20 years, that she has done MANY scenes, including the NY skyline...which is currently on the Ohio Art website! This gift was bought for her to add to her collection. Most women have dishes in their china closet. Royal Artist Sketching Easel Art Set With Easy To Store Bag

I was pretty disappointed with this. I bought it for my 12 year old daughter who, luckily, is a sweet kid and I'm sure she'll enjoy this. But as an adult who can see quality and craftsmanship, both are totally lacking in this product. Everything is hastily put/glued together, things don't match up and there are places where this sloppy work is very noticeable.

The easel also arrived with the bottom wood panel cracked and warped, obviously it was water damaged at some time and no one bothered to do anything about it. It seems as though someone at the factory looked at it, shrugged and said "eh, close enough." before packing it off to the unsuspecting. We simply didn't have time to ship it back and ask for another one that would, hopefully, be in better condition so my husband broke out his carpentry skills and did his best to fix it himself.

I love the idea of a portable easel, but it would be much better to simply dish out the extra $30 or so to buy a decent one.

This easel is nicely made and well equipped. The finish looks good and the easel is sturdy. If there is one complaint, it would be that the latches are cheaply made, but it really doesn't affect the appearance or usability of the easel. The accessories are very nice and fit well in the drawer of the easel. I am overall very happy with the product. A great value for the price.

The case/easle is well made with real wood joinery, not some cheap nailed or stapled together affair. Case and contents together are a good value. HOWEVER, as some other reviewers have noted, the hardware on the case is flimsy. I bought replacement hardware for a few bucks and now it is a very good case. Even with the added expense and time of replacement hardware, I recommend it and am considering buying another similar product from the same company.

French Style Full Box Plein Air Easel

It is advertised as $59.95 but with shipping at $14.95, its actually $74.90 total.

With that said it is still cheaper than all other brands. I have been going to various art stores in person and online to comparison shop. I needed one asap and it came fast, only a week to travel across country. I took a chance on this one and its really terrific. It is tough and stable enough for my needs. Over 6 years ago I used to draw caricatures for a company outdoors and the company works off of easels just like this one, old and beat-up by the elements.

Fresh out of the box its feels really light(important because of all the other stuff you have to carry), the legs screw in nice and tight, not wobbly and the adjustments are not sticky. Plus it comes with a carrying strap! Its great! If you need one, get this one, why pay more?

I got this easel about 4 years ago, and it still works great. As an easel it functions just fine and mine has definitely gotten some wear out of it.

Straightening the legs on this always seems to be a prodution though, so I tend to keep it folded on a table if I'm not working regularly. A few times that I've had this standing upright it's fallen with the piece in progress on it and wet. Lately I've been using pliers to tighten the bolts on all the joints, and it's definitely made a huge difference. I only warn not to wear down the ridges on them.

The drawer on this is pretty great. It has the regular wooden drawer which I use for my brushes, and underneath it is a metal storage area that you can use to store paint tubes. I also pull out the drawer so that I can lay my palette on it while painting and it's at the perfect height. It's a good easel for the price, and would be great for a beginner or someone who doesn't paint often.

I checked out the price and did much research before purchasing this easel-it is listed for well under the price at many art supply web sites. It really has two drawers-the one one you slide out and another underneath that drawer that is built into the easel-it is a great place to store your brushes. I think I will get a lot of use out of this in workshops, outdoors and anywhere I want to paint anytime. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the legs are little wobbly-you really need to tighten up the bolts well to get it to stay upright in the correct position. But it is lightweight and portable-so you can't have everything. All in all-a great product for the money.

The design and functionality are great. The legs are a little thin making it a little wobbly, but still is sturdy enough to paint. The other problem I have is the finish. It is semi-finished. The suface is rough. But for the price it is great.

This easel has been great. I was looking at local places, like Micheal's and hobby lobby. Their product is the exact same thing but $189. After i recieved this product, i went over there and examined the $125 product to see why it is so much more money? I could not tell a difference. It looked like it was exactly the same, just different packaging. So if your not sure about this product because of the price, Don't!! It is a great product, just without the 400% markup of your local chain store.

The table wood easel is a good value for the money. It sets up easily, holds up well and does the job for the size display it was intended for. When taken apart it stores pretty easily.

I think for the price of this Easel it is great. The only thing I would have liked better is if the bottom had some little rubber pieces so it wouldnt slide. The hard plastic ones it has still slide a bit. But other than that it does what its supposed to for a very economic price.

American Easel Oak Professional Easel-Golden Finish

I love this easel. I paint fairly large (4 feet to 7 feetish) and this easel has not let me down. I hate the "key" easels where you can only adjust every two inches or so, this allows you to adjust to any height. It is very sturdy for having such a small base and looks really beautiful in my studio. It also folds up to half its size really easily which is great for moving (those giant easels are too tall and too heavy to move around much.) You also can't beat this price, it definitely is worth the $200 price mark.

I did have a small problem with my easel, the one knob was faulty. I emailed the company directly, asked for a new one and they sent it to me free the next week. They also included a free panel! Their great customer service makes me rate rate them even higher.

WOW, this is one sturdy easel!!! I was a little nervous ordering this easel because it did not look very sturdy, I was wrong! This easel is very well constructed and i have complete faith that it will hold all my art work! I am shocked at the quality of this easel for the price and it looks terrific in my studio! Very easy to move around and simple in design. The top and bottom mast glide easily for adjustment. I don't know why someone would ever want to put it away, but if you chose to do so, the top folds in half and the back leg folds up. This was a steal at 72.00 and free 2day shipping through Amazon Prime. I highly recommend this easel if you need to conserve space, or just do not want a big bulky easel sitting around. This easel will not tip over, if that is a concern. It stands very stable! It is made out of solid oak and I feel it will last for many years. Oh, I forgot to mention that this easel will accommodate a very small canvas to very large canvas. I am very pleased with this purchase.

This Item had a lot of great reviews which made the condition it arrived in even more disappointing. I purchased this as a birthday gift for my girlfriend in late November. When I bought it, it was on back order but it finally arrived just in time about a month later. As soon as I saw the packaging I new there were going to be issues. It arrived in a long box wrapped in large plastic bags. The bags were quite beat up and weren't big enough to cover the box by a long shot. They had put one on each end and taped them together. When I removed the packaging, the box inside was gouged and torn. One end had already been opened by someone (you could see where the tape and been cut) and was just left open. the other end was torn. The box itself had almost no padding to speak of. When I took the easel out I was immediately surprised by the poor craftsmanship of the easel. There were gouges and splinters in the wood. One edge was discolored by what appeared to be water damage. It wasn't stained so it was a much lighter color that in the picture on Amazon. All those were largely cosmetic though and not something that I would have been terribly upset over. What was a big issue was that the main support arm for the easel was split down the middle and the easel itself was not square. Even with the split, I was able to put the easel together for long enough to show my girlfriend I'd actually gotten her a gift before sending it back and the base of the easel rocked badly like a table with a leg that's too short and the mast stayed loose in the base no matter how tight the screws. This thing had great other reviews for the most part so I'm hoping the quality issues came out of them rushing holiday orders. I will say that it is an impressive looking easel and if it hadn't been for the stability and craftsmanship issues, my girlfriend probably would have had it forever.

We use these for posting directional signs at our shows. They fit the bill, but are light enough to be knocked around, and we have to train the new people how to extend and retract the legs. But for the price, we are willing to deal with these minor inconveniences.

I bought these because they seemed like a good value. The description says that they are metal. They are in fact, a very cheap flimsy plastic. We purchased them to use for white boards, but the stands are not strong enough to support writing on them. I am very dissatisfied with this product.

the click-and-lock mechanism is very easy to handle, and provides a sturdy frame which prevents the easel from rocking at all.

the overall design is very stylish, and the legs have a sturdy appearance (and IS sturdy) without being too heavy. the product weighs only 2 LBs!!!

comes with a carrying case, which appears to be good quality, and the easel, folded, fits snugly inside.

the telescope legs extend max to about 170 cm tall, and an average adult has no trouble painting while standing, and if you prefer to paint while sitting, just retract it to your preferred height.

i dont really get what the "utility hook" is for, but it will be more worth the price once i know what to hook!
