I was originally getting this piece to put on my tall, kitchen island for when I have lots of small detail work and do not want to strain my neck. It does work for this, but I have also been pleasantly surprised to find that it is also works well in my lap and is very handy when we are camping throughout the summer. Lightweight and very versitile.
