Alvin Heritage™ Basic French Easel

Alvin Heritage Basic French EaselThis is exactly what I was looking for. I purchased this for my 12 year old daughter, and she loves it, if it were for my use I would be happy with it also. It is very portable. Easy to fold up, and adjust. Very compact to store. It can hold artist canvas or paper sketchbooks and is adjustable by height. We compared it to one that was nearly identical but made out of oak at our local art store for $200. A very good deal and acceptable quality. We received it very fast, the company shipped it out within one day of ordering.

This product is good quality, can be changed from a desk top easel to floor standing and has a storage box inside to hold your supplys.

Overall I feel the piece was great.

It doesn't have a clean finish. The finish is raw and very naturalcould be sanded stained and glossed if needed.

This is very good easel, easy to handle, easy to take outside and not an expensive one. The easel is very stable and not heavy at the same time, everything is adjustable (not only the height, but even the angle). It has a convenient area to put supplies. I am very satisfied with it and I am going to buy another one for my mother.

Yes, as someone has mentioned, it is not painted, but the quality of the wood is very good, so I don't think there is anything else needed to be done with this product.

I received this easel and was surprised at the quality. I take that back. I'm astonished at the quality. All the wood joints are dovetailed. Everything works the way it should. The wood finish is lightly oiled and a bit rough to the touch in spots but quite acceptable. If that bugs you, use some 220 sandpaper on those spots. It stands stable and is beautiful. If you are thinking of buying this easel, stop thinking and click on BUY right this instant. This exact same product (model HWE208) sells on the distributor's website (Alvinco dot com)for over twice as much. It's a deal so don't delay.

Pro Art Carry All Easel Box

Pro Art Carry All Easel BoxI was excited to get this and take it on my vacation. It did not last a weekend..... It fell apart at the hinges and is use-less now. I would not recomend this to someone that needs a sturdy case to take to and from painting sights.

This was a gift for my daughter who is an art major. it is nicely made and just what she was looking for.

Please note product is not a giant stickie note. You'll need tape if posting on white boards etc.

I received two of the same paper product made by Adams. They both came in with the first 10 pages or wrinkled and bent. These are large 28X30 inch 50 sheets on a easel pad. I design stained glass patterns so the paper must be smooth and have no imperfections. So I had to trash the first ten page which leaves only 40 sheets. I was not happy at all with the quality for the price I paid. I will not buy this product again.

Royal & Langnickel Essentials Sketching Pencil Set, 21-Piece

Royal & Langnickel Essentials Sketching Pencil Set, 21-PieceWhen I first started out doing art, I didn't care so much about quality. I just wanted pencils that did the trick.

Now that I am more experienced in the field, I have noticed that quality matters a lot.

The pencils in this package are very cheaply made. You may ask why this matters so much to a budding artist, or even an intermediate one. Well, you'll be sharpening pencils a lot in art and so you'll want a good sharpener and pencils that sharpen well. These pencils, however, do not sharpen well. You'll use a lot of your energy constantly trying to sharpen these things, when that energy should go towards honing your skills.

The white eraser is a bit too gummy like, a few uses and I already feel the structure beginning to weaken...

The sharpener is OK. But there are better ones (See my list below after review)

The only thing I liked about this kit were the charcoal sticks. I like to sharpen mine with sandpaper and these do produce nice dark tones.

The reason why I gave this product two stars is because, even though the greenhorn is apt to mow through tons of material just to get it right, I feel that higher quality art supplies will ease a lot of frustration the beginner will feel when they're first starting out in art. As the community knows, the hardest challenge in first learning art is learning how to see. The rest is just pencil mileage by application of knowledge from a teacher or textbook. And I feel that quality goes a long way in helping the beginner advance his or her skills.

If you want to REALLY get a good start at art (or good quality for continuing art), then I'd suggest the following:

For pencils, you can't go wrong with either Faber-castell or Staedlter. I myself use the Staedtler Mars Lumograph. You can find these in kits, containing various degrees (A good range for the beginner would generally be 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 7B and 8B. Pencils ending in H are harder and thus produce lighter tones while pencils ending in B are softer and produce darker tones.)

For erasers, I recommend the Staedlter White eraser (which is fairly cheap. Mine cost me about 2$ for a fairly good-sized stick). As for kneaded erasers, these are usually used to eraser thicker, heavier material like charcoal, but I recommend either Sanford or Prismacolor. Do not use any pink erasers for art, They leave a nasty pinkish residue on your paper and don't erase as good as the white (Infact, the only thing I ever use pink erasers for now is erasing stuff off of walls and desks.)

As for Sharpeners, you'll want one similar to the one included in this package, but bought from an art/ office supply store. The one included in the package was not as good as the metal one I picked up from Michael's for about two dollars. But if you REALLY want to get serious with it, I'd spend a bit more and get the KUM long-point sharpener. I use it almost exclusively and it is the best sharpener I've ever used. You can buy them here on Amazon or at any other art supply website (I've yet to see them sold in a store, unfortunately.) But it's a bit more expensive than your average sharpener (Mine was $10, shipping included). But it's well worth it, considering the fact that you save more wood and get to the point easier and faster.

Overall, don't get this kit; infact, don't get a "Kit," at all. Do a bit of research and get supplies separately. It's a bit more painstaking but in the end you're getting better quality products. You may save time and cash going for this product, but you'll be doing yourself, or that aspiring artist you know, a great disservice by giving them a poorly-made product.

I bought this Late october the 25th or 26th and it showed up as expected. Acually, the first day of the "3-5days" which was a great plus. So, about this product.. I bought this because i'm not a huge professional artist that spends hours drawing and making a living off of it. I like to sketch, draw and cartoon. and this set allows me to do that with multiple tools and pencils. I love the variety and quality of these pencils. Including charcoal not just in pencil but block also, along with graphite bars. really lets me control where things go. I really love the woodless pencil, even though it doesnt keep a good point, (for long) But, i know that in about a year or more i will come back and buy another one when this set gets all used up. Thanks for a great product. I am truely happy with this set.

My daughter is taking her third semester of a drawing class. Her original pencils were used to nubs, and I bought this larger set as a replacement. She was thrilled to get everything she needed -lots of different lead weights as well as erasers and graphite. A perfect set for her classes.

Royal 48 Piece All Media Artist Easel Set

Royal & Langnickel 48-Piece All Media Easel Artist SetI ordered this Royal & Langnickel 48-Piece All Media Easel Artist Set for my daughter as a birthday gift. I receive the set in just a few days. When I received the set, I unpacked it from the shipping box and repacked the Royal & Langnickel 48-Piece set and sent it off to my daughter without opening it to take a peek. My daughter called me when she received it and said this was one of the best gifts she had ever received... Several weeks later I stopped and visited with my daughter and her family. My daughter brought out the set and showed it to me, she was so happy and proud. When I finally took the time to look at it, I could not believe what I was seeing. The set is not a cheap thrown together piece of crap! The Wood Easel is very well made and very ridged. Inside everything had its parking place. Very neat. My daughter is 33 years old... This set is not kid stuff... My daughter is an artist.

I love to buy in Amazon, however some time to time I get packages like this one. Everything inside was scramble and one of the parts was broken, so I am not sure if I will be able to assembly anymore. All the little tubes with the paint were floating around the box and one of the caps was missing. Another thing is that one of the paint tubes had an small hole on it and when I tried to use it I found it was dry.

All items were present and accounted for in the kit. However, the 'some assembly required' did not include instructions nor measurements for DRILLING holes into the box in order to make it an actual easel. Very dissatisfied with the product as it does not meet its said function.

Bought this for my 12 year old son, should have paid closer attention, it is a complete paint set with

but no pencils or chalks or anything, which would probably have been more age appropriate for him, he was

excited to build it but hasn't started painting yet due to the difficulty of finding a place to do so.

It is a decent set for the price, I did alot of research, and I am happy with the value.

The person who got it as a gift really like it. He plans on going back to painting and it was much appreciated.
