If you are first starting out with this type of medium to color your creations drawing, or any other type, then this is the set for you. i just love my set that i've got i started out, with a 12, then 25 color set of this brand . but advanced to 36 in no time, there really is'nt a difference but that more colors are added to the set. Pentel is the only brand i trust for full rich color.

I've actually only used these a couple times, but when I have used them they're fun. A nice range of vivid, blendable colors. Obviously the blunt ends aren't going to be great for fine details, but you can get some fun textured effects by pushing hard with some sweeping strokes. You blow through them really fast that way, but at six bucks a set why not? (Try not to overdo it, though; they're soft, break easy. And maybe check at local stores to avoid shipping. = ) ) These are also an affordable alternative for artists who like colored pencils but can't afford the steep prices. All around if you want to relax with some fun color, this is a great way to go.

I am a beginner at pastels and didn't want to invest a fortune until I was sure it would be something I would enjoy.

I do. And I enjoy these pastels. My teacher was happy with the quality of both the paper and the pastels I chose from Amazon and is considering buying both for the classes she teaches in public schools.

If I ever 'advance' to higher quality products, I will be sure to compare them.

These Oil Pastel Sticks are about 3 inches in length and come in about every immaginable color. They sketch beatifully onto regular hard back sketch paper and allow for very nice control. If you are a modern or impressionist style sketcher then you will appreciate what you can do with these. They are fun and of a high quality for their inexpensive price.

The assembly instructions for this product are absolutely terrible. The picture doesn't match the real life product and the directions are incomplete. This product is not sturdy, but if you want to use it as a display it might be worth purchasing.

Update 6 months later: The easel has done a good job holding my whiteboard.

The assembly instructions --terrible. The picture in the assembly instruction -incomplete. This easel is not sturdy at all -it cannot even stand on the floor. I am not a really picky customer, but this is not a good one.

The easel is sold at a very good price. It takes a few minutes to put together, but once assemled, it works just fine. You are better off figuring out how to put it together yourself, than looking at the directions. The directions are not user-friendly. Great product and I would recommend it to others.

got it as a gift for someone just starting to paint seems to be of good quality and they loved it! the only thing that i didn't like or expect was that the included canvas is not blank. it has a pre-made design and you fill it in with colors. I, as well as the recipient, would have preferred a blank canvas.

Everything about this item was better than expected, with the exception of the included canvas...I expected it to be a blank canvas for my budding artist to create with...instead it was printed with a rather child-like flower, like a coloring book picture....still a great beginner set...plenty of paint.

The table easel is pretty much the same as others I have used. The only drawback is that it doesn't secure the canvas for carrying. There is no lip or lever to clamp down and keep the canvas falling off the easel. Otherwise, the product is fine.

I had trouble with this item, but the Seller contacted me immediately and is doing everything to make it right. It fell apart in the shipping, however, the Seller has been more than generous in offering alternatives and extras in order to make up for what happened. The amount of paints are very generous, although I too, as the others listed, would have preferred a blank canvas. I think it's a good starter kit for a younger person.
