Bought this as a gift for 18 month old daughter; Unlike other toys I think she'll enjoy this easel for years to come. 3 ways to draw crayon, chalk or pen (minus 1 star for not including any in the box). Nice design integrates roll of paper.

We love the easel and have enjoyed writing on the dry erase board.

The only problem is then the markers go on the wood it does not wash off and leaves it marked up.

I was so excited getting this for my 2 girls that are 5 & 7. They love crafts. Anything to do with drawing, coloring, etc. But, the dry erase portion of this item doesn't come clean well at all. The first time they drew on it with the Dry Erase markers, it hardly wiped off. They lost interest in it pretty quickly after that. I paid only $28.00 for it on sale.. and am still a bit disappointed with my purchase.

The price was right and the quality of the product is sturdy, easy to put together. There could be a place for the paper to be attached to the easel other than the magnets, they are not very strong and a place for the paper to be attached when not using. Also there could be some protective pads for the bottom of the easel so as not to mar the table surface.

Easel is easy to use and sturdy. I like the big wooden screws that hold the board in place. Overall great quality and my grandaughter loves it.

I needed a dozen cheap, portable easels for a presentation I was doing across the country. This fit the bill perfectly.

Caveat: These are rated to hold only five pounds. I was using them for 20x30 posters on foam core, which weighs practically nothing, so they worked perfectly. If you're displaying anything heavy, you need a heavier-duty easel.

I bought this to hold my whiteboard up, and sure it does indeed do so. However, if I apply just a little less than baby pressure, the locks that hold the white board up loosen and the whole thing falls. It happens quite a bit, but personally I've learned to be very sensitive with it.

These brushes are perfect for a beginner, or a hobbyist. They're fairly priced and work well. I bought these as a gift for someone. I showed them to my dad (a master painter) and he said that they're OK, but that there are other brushes that he'd rather use.

So I'm not saying they suck, but just know that there are better tools out there, unfortunately, you'll have to spend the money.

the product description doesn't match the product name--the name says its a 5 piece watercolor set but the description is of a 7-piece acrylic and oil brush set.

Which is it???

(I used 3 stars because I had to give it something in order to post a comment and it seems like they'd be nice brushes and don't want to diss the product itself.)

Here's the actual description: #5 & #8 rounds, 1" flat, 1/2" angled, and #1 script for watercolor and acrylic (as the online description didn't match the picture). Very nice. Would have given 5 stars if not for the confusion

Darice Sketch Box Easel with Palette

I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my daughter, and was very disappointed when it arrived. The wood is poorly cut and had splinters in it, one of the hinges had fallen off in the box (it looked like the holes for hinge screws had been poorly drilled) and the easel was much heavier than similar ones I had seen in the art store.

Designed by the French, made in China what do you expect?

Seriously, I've owned a number of French easels and hardware is always falling off. If you lose a piece, a quick stop at the hardware store will fix it. Don't worry you'll just look more authentic, because a well-used French easel is a fairly pathetic sight.

In my experience, the Darice is good for the price. If you've never owned a French easel, you'll have fun setting it up the first time, since the manufacturer believes an instruction sheet is an unnecessary luxury. Here is a hint: bits can be loosened, but nothing is meant to come off, including those little metal brackets on the front legs.

It's easy after you've done it.

I had searched all over locally and been unable to find an appropriate display easel for a little souvenir plate we'd brought back from Europe. This easel is exactly right for the task and looks classy as well.

Beware this is not a "female" hand. We received a large hand that was neither male nor female, and a spokesperson for the company said they don't sell any gender-specific hands, anyway. Also, the pinky is too loose and won't stay in place; and the index finger is too tight and difficult to move.

The hand is great the joints all work beautifully, it balances nicely on its felt base and it adds an interesting aesthetic to my desk. It's also great for holding and displaying jewelery. The only problem I have with it is the thumb. It's impossible to see from the picture above, but the thumb joint is too far into the palm of the hand. When a hand is flat the thumb juts out directly in line with all of the other knuckles, but the mannequin hand places the thumb too far forward and inwards, as if it were trying to reach into a small jar. The hand is indeed anatomically correct, but added to the fact that the fingers can only move back and forth and not side to side makes for a stiff model. It's impossible to achieve dynamic poses with the hand, and therefore I can't use it as a drawing model like I purchased it for. It is, however, a big help with achieving understanding as to how the four fingers move. This hand can be used as a decent anatomy lesson if taken with a pinch of salt.

I have a few other palette knives and in comparison this one is noticeably lower quality. The knife itself is very sharp and not super flexible. Its made in China, so I guess you get what you pay for.

If you are first starting out with this type of medium to color your creations drawing, or any other type, then this is the set for you. i just love my set that i've got i started out, with a 12, then 25 color set of this brand . but advanced to 36 in no time, there really is'nt a difference but that more colors are added to the set. Pentel is the only brand i trust for full rich color.

I've actually only used these a couple times, but when I have used them they're fun. A nice range of vivid, blendable colors. Obviously the blunt ends aren't going to be great for fine details, but you can get some fun textured effects by pushing hard with some sweeping strokes. You blow through them really fast that way, but at six bucks a set why not? (Try not to overdo it, though; they're soft, break easy. And maybe check at local stores to avoid shipping. = ) ) These are also an affordable alternative for artists who like colored pencils but can't afford the steep prices. All around if you want to relax with some fun color, this is a great way to go.

I am a beginner at pastels and didn't want to invest a fortune until I was sure it would be something I would enjoy.

I do. And I enjoy these pastels. My teacher was happy with the quality of both the paper and the pastels I chose from Amazon and is considering buying both for the classes she teaches in public schools.

If I ever 'advance' to higher quality products, I will be sure to compare them.

I'm sure this product is fine, but I thought I was ordering the portfolio -not just black refill sheets. Yes now I see that the description says "black refill pages" but I was just paying attention to the picture. I have been using the portfolios for my children's artwork and like them a lot -I just wanted more & have no use for the black papers.
