I purchased this kit for my newly adopted 17 year old daughter who has a lot of raw artistic talent. However, she has not had any formal training nor has she had many art supplies to work with. She was thrilled with this gift and has already started experimenting with the different types of paint. I think this would be good for either the trained artist or the novice!

I searched high and low for this large set of 48 colors. The tube size is generous and the colors are true quality! Delivery was quick! (3 days!) The only problem I had was when puncturing the seal for the first time on the tubes the paint tended to spurt out as if under pressure. This may, however, be due to the fact that I live at high altitude (6000 ft.) This tip may help for those of you who have the same problem: Use a safety pin to puncture the seal instead of the point on the lid. Leave the safety pin in for a few seconds to allow the pressure to release slowly. When you remove the pin you shouldn't lose any paint.

I am using these paints for wargame miniature painting and am happy with the results. They mix well, but you need to use a flow enhancer when painting minis. I use my own mix, but Liquitex makes a product called "Flow-Aid" that is designed for that purpose. I like the vibrancy of the colors, and this box comes with several colors that are just slightly different, allowing for quick wash/drybrush combos. i love this paint. it lasts for a long time, because you really dont need that much and it spreads wonderfully. the only thing is some colors (not very many) are a little different from the tube color, which is to be expected i guess. but overall i love it

I've had this Quartet easel for a few months now holding up a flipchart for a few hours once a month. I was initially disappointed to see it uses twist-locks on the legs, but I thought it would only be an annoyance. Wrong. Despite being careful/gentle with my twists, the 2nd time I used it and tried to collapse the legs when done, I needed to use pliers to loosen the twist-lock on one leg. I bought three easels to replace several we have at my workplace that are broken. Two of the three easels I received from Amazon were not property assebled as the rivets that hold the back leg to the top piece were not attached to the back leg, rendering the tripod easel worthless. The two replacements I received did not have this problem but I would warn customers that Quartet's quality control is lacking. For such expensive easels this was a disappointment.
I have a few other palette knives and in comparison this one is noticeably lower quality. The knife itself is very sharp and not super flexible. Its made in China, so I guess you get what you pay for.
I got this easel delivered today and it took me only 30 min to set it up. One of the casters (wheels) fell of during the transport. No biggie. Just unscrewed the metal plate that's holding it, took the grip ring off and reinstalled everything. Also, the tiny crews for the back support didn't really fit the holes well (and the predrilled holes where tiny), so I got my drill out, drilled a bit bigger holes and put everything in place with bigger screws. You wonder why I still give this easel 5 stars? You won't find a better easel for the money! The frame is made of solid and sturdy wood and it tilts all the way to vertical, plus it holds my huge 72" canvas like a charm. So what if it took me another 5 minutes to solve the small issues. I've had $160 easels in the past that basically fell apart just by looking at them! An easel like this costs usually $600 and up. I'd buy it again!
I bought this set for my mother, she loves to paint, but hasn't done so in a long time. I bought her this set to get her started again. Its a really cute little set for the price and its a good start up kit, but the box/easel seems a little flimsy, be very careful when handling it.

I usually use the acrylic paints that are sold in the bottles but I wanted to try this out. The set is very nice but doesn't come with the palette knife. Also, some of the paints were really dry and that is why this didn't get five stars. All in all though, I really like this set and I especially love the pencil and eraser that comes with it. I've found that with other pencils and erasers, there is evidence of erasing on the painted item. Not so with this. Also, the wooden case is very nice and the price was great. I do like this but I think I prefer the other acrylic style paints. Time will tell more though since I'm just learning more about this particular acrylic type. I recommend this for a beginner and advanced painter as well.

Bought this for my niece who was interested in learning to paint. Acrylic are a good choice for kids since they dry quicky and wash up with water. The set Has a nice set of brushes for small canvas work but larger ones would be necessary if painting on larger canvases. The basic colors are in the kit but even with knowledge of color mixing the shades you can get are limited. Additional tubes of varying shades would be helpful as well as larger tubes of black and white since they get used up more quickly. I bought the easel as a Christmas present for my daughter. She seems to be happy with it, but I am disappointed with the quality of the item. It is height adjustable as advertised, however the height only changes by an inch. This item not grow with my child. The white board, and chalk board are very poor quality. Both are very difficult to erase, and the chalk and markers leave a "ghost" of what my daughter draws. I did purchase high quality chalk, markers and an eraser. I have not tried a cleaning solution yet. The item was less expensive than other models.

I purchased this easel for my 6 year old son. I adjusted it to the highest height (he's 4'2") and it is just a little taller than him so it's the perfect height with some room to grow. The quality is good for the price. You get what you pay for. The chalkboard is not the best quality but if you use Expo dry erase solution/erasers for both the dry erase/chalkboard you should have no problems. I did like that the height would adjust within 6" so that it does grow with your child. My son loves it and uses it daily. It's not fancy but it gets the job done. My only complaint is that the paper roll holder is a little smaller than standard roll papers but we will make do. Product arrived with broken tray, due no doubt to elaborate but ineffectual packaging. Called Martin for replacement and was promised one within three days. Assembled OK without tray, but poor design makes it impossible to thread paper through bracket that holds paper down on easel. Paper roll is 15" wide, bracket 14.5". Recommend people find another product from many of this type available.
I am using this as my cake topper. It wasn't that well made. It's crooked and the painting is also crooked. The back pole is too long and the painter's pallet is huge compared to the easel. I made it work, but if I had a dollhouse, I don't know if I would have liked this very much for it because it is so crooked.
The easel is simple to work with, sturdy and is the perfect way to "package" the paints/supplies between sessions. Since the medium involved is oil paint, it remains usable within the easel when it is closed down to a box. This is a well-made product, nice wood and quality metal parts, adjusts easily. The wooden construction does make it a bit weighty for a child to tote, but I can't see a way around that.
I needed three small easels to display small paintings of mine on a shelf. These did the job perfectly and look great as well. These look nice enough I might even buy a couple more to display some other things on.

I've actually only used these a couple times, but when I have used them they're fun. A nice range of vivid, blendable colors. Obviously the blunt ends aren't going to be great for fine details, but you can get some fun textured effects by pushing hard with some sweeping strokes. You blow through them really fast that way, but at six bucks a set why not? (Try not to overdo it, though; they're soft, break easy. And maybe check at local stores to avoid shipping. = ) ) These are also an affordable alternative for artists who like colored pencils but can't afford the steep prices. This little manequin works fine if you are trying to sketch simple poses. It does not sit properly, cross its legs or put its hand on its waist. It is adequate for the price.

I purchased this exact easel from a local store here after searching online for an easel to hold a large white board for homeschooling. It was easy to set-up. The tray which holds the white board has grooves to better grip the board, holding it steady for writing on it. It looks more sturdy than many of the ones which I saw online (it weighs about 4.5 pounds). So far so good!

I purchased this easel for a high school student to use over the summer to build her portfolio. I was looking for something heavey enough that she could use it out doors without fear of it blowing over in a breeze. (keep in mind that the size of canvas will impact wind resistance/blow over). I couldn't believe the quality when we got this last week. I paid well under the list price here on Amazon and as the daughter of a shop teacher, I am used to "grading" wood work LOL! This easel is oak, it's well finished and the fittings are lovely. It assembled in a few minutes and while it's not made to be portable, it will be pretty easy to move about.

This was backordered for a time, but when it arrived I was pleased. It is a significant step above the very lightweight tripod easels out there, but it isn't as heavy (or bulky) as the real hardcore easels for painters of large stretched canvas. We have now used it for photographing our art collection, and now will convert it to hold a rotating piece in our living room. The top bracket gives a nice sense of security versus simply balancing a frame on the easel. For the (significantly discounted from list) price we paid, this was an excellent deal.

When I opened the package some of the containers inside did not stay in their position. No big deal, but the photo emulsion remover bottle leaked. If there was no additional damage I would have kept it. What I believe was the tracing paper inside was half turned yellowish as well as the screen to make the "negative". Shipping was free through Prime thankfully. So I will return and probably try to purchase another since other good reviews.
